Bago pa nagsimula ang pagpapatayo ng Mount-Sea OLR, ay pinayuhan ko na si Joseph Yap na pag-isipan ng ilang beses at kunsultahin na din pati yung Misis niya. Napakatigas ng paninindigan niya dahil sa dami ng nag-eenganyo sa kanya at sa paniniwalang susuportahan ito ng husto. Sa murang edad at pagmamahal niya sa sports ng kalapati ay gusto niyang magsimula ng isang kakaibang paglalaban ng mga kalapati sa isang parehas na pamamaraan at tangi ang ibon lamang ang lumalaban dito.
Ang Misis niya ay todo tutol sa plano niya. Ngunit makaraan ng ilang panahon ay pumayak na din siya para mabigyan katuparan ang kagustuhan ni Joseph. Itong pag-sang-ayon niya ay dahilan na din sa ilang taong nakausap niya na handang tumulong, at isa na ako doon.
Sa unang salbo pa lang ay nagulat na ako sa laki ng kanyang ginastos sa pagpapatayo ng loft. Sinabi ko sa kanya na matagal tagal ito bago niya mabawi. Ngunit imbis na huminto siya sa pag-gagastos ay tuloy tuloy pa din ang kanyang pagpundar. Madalas namin siyang pinapayuhan at sinasaway, ngunit nananaik pa din yung kagustuhan niyang mapaganda ang MS-OLR.
Kung papansinin niyo yung unang litrato ng MS-Loft, makikita niyo yung Pisikal ng pagkakaiba sa Loft ngayon. Ngunit hindi lang ang labas ang nagbabago, kundi mas higit ang loob nito. Sa pagdadala niyo ng ibon nitong Season-5 ay inanyayahan ko kayo na libutin ang bawat sulok ng loft at ikumpara sa dati kung sakaling nakarating na kayo minsan dyan.
Bukot sa mga BODs ay marami ding mga grupo at katauhan na tumulong at patuloy na tumutulong. Nangyayari ito dahil sa paniniwala namin sa sinseridad at credibilidad ng ating butihing Organizer. At nais din namin na makapag contribute sa isang matagumpay na OLR tungo sa isang malaking karangalan ng ating bansa.
Sino man taong may pagmamalasakit at magandang layunin ay inaanyayahan din naming tumulong. Ang MS-OLR ay para sa ating lahat. Dito tayo nag-eenjoy at nagkakaroon ng karagdagang mga kaibigan. Hindi biro yung sakripisyo na ibinigay ni Joseph. Pera, oras at panahon niya. Pati sariling negosyo at pamilya niya ay madalas na napababayaan dahilan dito sa MS-OLR.
Ano naman ang nagawa natin? Madami dami din. Hindi ko na babanggitin dito kung sino sino ang mga tumulong, dahil napakarami nila. Sasamantalahin ko muna itong pagkakataon na pasalamatan sila bago ko makalimutan. Dakila kayo dahil sumusuporta kayo ng walang kapalit. Alam kong busy din kayo ngunit nandyan kayo tuwing kakailanganin ang tulong niyo.
Sa mga bumabatikos naman, ang tanging hiling ko lang ay ang inyong pang-uunawa. Ang Organizer at BODs ay pinagsisikapan na lalong mapabuti at mapaganda ang OLR natin. Patuloy kaming nakakatanggap ng mga suhestyon at yung pwedeng gawin ay ginagawa at ang hindi naman ay maaring panahon lang ang hinihintay at maari din ma-adopt sa darating na araw.
Ano ang ginagawa ng Organiser at MS-OLR BODs? Para sa kaalaman ng lahat, ang Organiser ang solong gumagastos sa Loft, Maintenance at patuloy na pag-improve nito. Pagdating sa mga alituntunin at gastusin sa pamamahala ng OLR lang nakapaloob ang mga BODs. Ilang mabibigat na gastusin ay sweldo ng loftmen, kuryente, tubig, patuka, bitamina, pmv vaccine, loft cleaning, BAI certificates, road trainings hanggang race proper. Mga gastusin sa final event ay sakop din sa operation na saklaw ng mga BODs. Sa loob ng apat na taon ay abonado pa din kami. Ako ang higit na nakakaalam kung kumita na ang Organizer o hindi. Bagamat ang proceeds ng Auction o buy back birds ay sa kanya napupunta, sa apat na taong ito ay di pa din niya kayang bawiin ang ginastos niya.
Welcome po sa aming lahat na magkaroon ng panibagong OLR dito sa Pilipinas, dahil alam namin na aabot na sa limit ang kapasidad ng MS-OLR. Dadating ang araw na mas mabigat ang aming haharapin at yun ang tanggihan ang entries ng mga miembro. Mas madali na din siguro para sa bagong OLR dahil maiiwasan na nila ang mga pagkakamali ng MS. Handa din akong magbigay ng impormasyon tungo sa ikabubuti ng mga bagong OLR sa Pilipinas.

A SALUTE TO THE ORGANIZER
Once again, I would like to congratulate Mr. Joseph Yap for another successful event. This thing could not have happened without the supports of groups and people who believes in his passion and sacrifices.
As the Organizer of MS-OLR, J.Y. is solely responsible for the financing of the loft constructions and its continuous improvements. On the other hand, there are BODs who handles the operations of OLR.

To allow Fanciers to test their birds in a different environment and to provide a venue for those who are busy with their works. After the success in the 4th season, we are thankful to our Lord for all the blessings. Every year, we made some adjustments and continue to improve ourselves. Yes, we know that we can't pleased everyone, but even with a meager resources, we do our best to make the MS-OLR reach a greater height and be recognized as a world class OLR in the Philippines.

NEW PARTNER
I am extremely happy to know that more and more companies are interested to support the MT-SEA Oneloft with the new partnership of Lakpue Drugs, Inc. During my last visit to the OLR loft, I have witnessed the technical team of Lakpue administering deworming to all the birds. They have also took over the medical treatment to ensure that all birds are free from any deseases. Thus, we expect the OLR birds to perform even better in the coming months during trainings and racings. With the supports coming from all sectors, there is no doubt that it will bring the success of MT-SEA OLR to a new height. Congratulations to the Organizer!!!

RACE DECISIONS
The more that I got involved, the more that I realized that there are so much more to learn. When the MS-OLR Organizer decided that the final race will be on March 3, 2012. We have to start working back on the race schedules. Matnog race should not be later than Feb. 25 and Legaspi race should not be later than Feb. 18. Since we are not certain of the weather condition and that no race point is allowed to be cancelled, we have to give one week allowance as contingency to the First Race. Thus, Feb. 12 was tentatively set as the first race in Legaspi.
On Saturday morning, the birds were basketted with a final entries of 449 birds. On the same afternoon, the Organizer when to my house to discuss about the different scenario, since both of us felt that it is very unlikely that we could release the birds on Sunday. We have reviewed the different weather forecasting stations and made a lot of calculations. We predicted that the weather in Legaspi could improve in the later part of the morning, but the entire Camarines and Quezon provinces, which is the path of our feather athletes will remained under heavy rain and strong winds.
On Feb. 12 (SUNDAY), our fear turned to be a reality. Legaspi is raining hard in the morning. Thus, a decision was immediately made to hold over the birds. Metro Manila weather is overcast and started to rain in the afternoon.
On Feb. 13 (MONDAY), it is fair weather in Legaspi, but the weather in Metro Manila, together with the adjascent provinces remained not so good. As we foresee that the weather in Bicol region will turn bad again on Tuesday and continue to be bad for the next few days, a decision has to be made. We know that there is a risk in releasing the birds, but holding further will not do us any better. Go! The birds were finally liberated at exactly 7:00am. We are very excited when the first dropper was clocked at 11:13am. As of 1:56pm, 224 birds were clocked which represents 50%.
I have been an officer for 25 years in one of our country's most prestigeous Racing Pigeons Club, but helping manage the MS-OLR gives me some new challenges. Not only that we have to monitor the weather continuously, we also have to make a lot of calculations on the flying path.
Congratulations to all the participants who have clocked their birds today. I hope that we will continue to have good races in Matnog, Sorsogon and Allen, Samar.

NO EASY AND THANKFUL JOBS
It was a Saturday morning (Jan.28) when I received a call from Joseph Yap. Are you busy today? No! Why? JY, I need some help on our Benzing system. OK, when are you coming? JY, right away! After about half an hour, our doorbell rung and I knew It's Joseph.
We discussed some of the problems that he had been experiencing. JY, should we consider subscribing to the program of Benzing for a regular updates? How much are they charging? JY, 6,000 EURO plus 1,000 EURO annually. Are you crazy? Where do we get the money?
With the help of my son, we were able to update all the gender and color of the surviving birds. It took us a few hours to finish it. JY, Whoooohhh! The participants should be very happy to see the gender and real color in tomorrows' training results.
Later on the same day, Joseph was in the MS-OLR to register the birds for the Ragay training. Some birds did not register and these were set aside. After all the registered birds were loaded to the transporter, he had to recheck what happened to the unregistered birds. Apparently, a few of them were not clocked in the earlier training. Thus, were not in the records when we did the updates. Though with no help from us, he was able to fix and register all the remaining birds.
Early Sunday morning (Jan. 29), I received a text from Joseph providing me with the Ragay informations on coordinates and distance. The birds were released at 6:45am and the weather was excellent. Thanks and Good Luck was my response to him.
At about past 10am, I received a call from him. His voice stuttering and seems in big panic. JY, More than 400 birds arrived already. Good! What's the problem? JY, because of the updates that we made last night, the Benzing Clock was not set at the RACING MODE. The loftmen were so happy to see the 1st group of almost 100 birds arriving, but were shocked when the clock is not registering the arrival of the birds. Never mind, nothing is perfect was the only consoling words that I could give him at that time.
As part of the Organizing Team, I was also dissapointed. However, Joseph is only one man doing everythings by himself. If only, there are other supporters around. This simple error might have been avoided. Looking on the brighter side, this thing happened at a time when crucial races are fast approaching. Therefore, I believe this is one lesson learned. Even the loftmen are now taught to be on the watch at all time.
Good Luck to all participants and enjoy our main event on March 3, 2012. We will be having a Roasted Calf in a fiesta atmosphere. Join and let's all have FUN!

CHALLENGE OF AN OLR ORGANIZER
If only, there is a way for me to turn back the time, I would not have offered my assistance to organize the Mount-Sea Oneloft. I probably might have saved the Organizer from spending so much money and time from a seemingly un-ending problems.
We have witnessed how a young energetic person in the name of Joseph Yap worked very hard to fulfill a dream of having a successful oneloft race in the Philippines. After seeing his persistency, despite of a failure in the so called Labrador OLR, he seemed more challenged in standing up after the bad fall. With a sympathetic feeling, I have commited myself to assist him in the best that I could. Mount-Sea was offered to him as a new venue and many more people have finally agreed to help in different ways.
So far, The MS-OLR is running on its third year. We could conclude that it was successful, as it is the first time that OLR in the Philippines was able to hold this long. But all of these success comes with a price. His family and business were both affected because of the time that he is spending to tender the MS-OLR.
We are supporting him without having any personal benefits. These are done voluntarily to give him all the moral, physical and financial supports to let the whole world racing pigeon hobbyists know that the Philippines could also runs an OLR professionally and successfully.
MS-OLR will have it's final event on March 3, 2012. We are very confident that more fanciers will join and more participants is expected in the coming year. The biggest challenge right now is
how the Organizer could continue to improve the operations without sacrificing too much.

After so long, I finally have a chance to join the OLR Organizer again to Rosario, Cavite. We arrived the loft at about 8:00am. Joseph has called the loftmen and shared a simple breakfast from Jollibee with them. We then instructed the loftmen to prepare for the deworming process. While the loftmen were busy preparing, we took the opportunity to check on the loft extension and discuss what else to be done. A few minutes after past 8:30am, we have started giving the In & Out deworming capsules to 630 birds.
We were amazed to see so many different type of worms in the floor after 1-1/2 hrs. Pictures were taken so we can share it with the other fanciers. The birds were much much healthier compared to the same period last year. Two months from now, the road trainings will start and I hope that most of them would be able to make it to the last leg of Mt-Sea OLR 2011 series race.

UNENDING TASKS OF AN ORGANIZER
I am referring to Joseph Yap, the Organizer of Mount-Sea OLR. This morning, I travelled with him to Rosario, Cavite for a visit to the OLR. What I thought was a beautifully constructed loft last year turned out to be not good enough.
This year, four air ventilators were added to reduce the heat inside the loft during the summer months. Then, the landing board appeared too small and was eventually extended. Simultaneous with the constructions of an aviary for the pigeons to take a bath, a living quarter with a clean bath room was also provided for the comfort of the loftmen.
With the changes in the landing board, all the former super traps were replaced with a new one built by Douglas. The interior arrangement of the loft (as suggested by Jaime Chua) was likewise adjusted to make it easier for the loftmen to feed and give clean water to the birds everyday.
When the rainy season started late in July, the loft inside appeared too windy and cold for the birds. Thus, jalousy windows were installed to control the air flow. Temporary aviary was also installed to help the youngs settle in the loft.
In the first week of this month (DECEMBER). the technical team from Benzing inspected the loft and was astonished to see the MT-SEA OLR. "The loft and location are superb! It's one of the best that I have seen". Remarks of Mr. Reinhard Versell from Austria.
With the new e-clock introduced by Benzing and sponsored by Merchor De Asis. We have to make an ocular inspections to see how we can modify the trapping system for an eventual migration to electronic clocking. The first ever to be introduced in the Philippines. However, the Organizer has to be very careful not to frighten the birds as road trainings will start this week.
While at the site, we also discussed how to extend the loft to accomodate more birds next year. From our discussion, it seem that the MT-SEA OLR loft is just halfway finished. Thus, two thumbs up to JOSEPH YAP for his energy, passion and dedication.

READY FOR ROAD TRAININGS
My two sons have their HP team building outing at Mount Sea Resort last Friday to Saturday. I have volunteered to fetch them last Saturday, since I want to visit the loft at the same time. It was a very pleasant visit, especially seeing the OLR birds in good conditions. My congratulations to Manny Dela Cruz (loft supervisor) for the nice job! This was a big contrast to the sight during the month of May, when most of the birds were sicked.
I would also like to congratulate Aaron for the nice video. The birds were like dancing in the air. As I watch the video, It seems that their formations looks more like a tornado or fireworks.

Mount Sea OneLoft has received a total of 565 birds from 103 participants. There are many slots still under reserved. Thus, I personally believe that the capacity of the loft will be filled to its maximum.

PICTURE TAKING
Together with my 2 kids, 4 volunteers from CRPA and our new loft Supervisor Manny Dela Cruz, we have started taking pictures of the entries in Mount Sea OLR this morning. I am glad that Manny volunteered to assist our Organizer Joseph Yap in the daily supervision of the loft. The total entries as of today is 438 from almost a hundred's participants. It was really fun working with people in the same hobby, as there was no single dull moment.

LOFT VISIT
I went to Mount Sea at around 11:00am. On the way, my car aircon stayed on high speed as the temperature outside was extremely hot. When I reached the place and parked my car, I rushed in to the loft and saw Joseph Yap and Eric Distor comfortably seated inside. I went around and check every compartment, the whole loft is cool and you can really feel the sea breeze flowing into the loft and exiting through the four ventilators newly installed. Outside, you can see the four galvanized ventilators spinning like choppers.
We have lunch together inside the newly renovated Tangway Restaurant. The Organizer showed me the list of entries totalling 406 birds from 83 participants. I was likewise informed that many members are encountering some problems with their breeding and are requesting for an extension of the deadline of May 31, 2010. Our website coordinators will constantly update you on this issue.

We have lunch together inside the newly renovated Tangway Restaurant. The Organizer showed me the list of entries totalling 406 birds from 83 participants. I was likewise informed that many members are encountering some problems with their breeding and are requesting for an extension of the deadline of May 31, 2010. Our website coordinators will constantly update you on this issue.

MOUNT-SEA LOFT VISIT
This morning, I have visited the loft at around 11:15am to check the on-going improvements being done by the organizer Joseph Yap. Unfortunately, I was a bit late as I was told by the loftmen that Joseph had just left. Anyway, I entered the loft and saw that four compartments were filled up with birds already.
1st compartment - 22 birds
2nd compartment - 24 birds
3rd compartment - 28 birds
4th compartment - 18 birds
total of 92 birds as of 11:15am (April 18, 2010)
Wow! I was a bit surprised to see that so many birds were in the loft already, considering that OLR ring distributions officially started only on March 6th, while entries are allowed only after April 1st.
I checked my old postings and noticed that Mount-Sea OLR started accepting entries on February 15 and by April 22, 2009, there were only 74 birds.
After a brief talks with Joseph Yap, I was told that most of those who pledged to enter at least two sets (including myself) have not submitted their birds yet.
I hope that we will not experience any over booking scenario here, as we wish to accomodate everyone to have a chance in participating in our Mount-Sea 2nd year OLR.

MOUNT-SEA OLR RINGS
Aside from the limited quantities of rings spread out to the different distributors of Mount-Sea OLR. Only 200 rings were left with the Organizer Joseph Yap as of March 20, 2010.
The PFC BODs have requested that they will pay their 60 entries in advance. Thus, reserving the slots for them. I have likewise received many inquiries if they could pay and reserve the slots which is limited to 700.
As part of the OLR 2011 race mechanics. The entries will be on a first come first accomodate basis. We regret that no more entries will be accepted once the number of birds reach 700. To give priority to those availing of the 5+1 promo, an update will be posted in the Mount-Sea website as a reminder. Any participant who wishes to avail the promo should pay forward in order to secure the slots.

PFC BODs joining OLR
We were all very overwhelmed with the full support of PFC when 10 sets (representing 60 birds) were immediately pledged by the individual Board Members of PFC during their meeting with the OLR organizer on March 20, 2010. More PFC members are expected to join later.
To all Mount-Sea OLR participants, expect a tough competition from the heavyweight members of PFC (Currently the largest club in the Philippines) in our 2011 OLR.

SIMULATION CLOCKING OF TAGKAWAYAN RACE
CRPA officers and members have started their first clocking on the OLR birds arrived from Tagkawayan, Quezon on January 23, 2010. Due to the bad weather in the area, the birds were released at 8:30am. First group of six birds arrived at around 11:10am. There are eleven of us including the Organizer Joseph Yap witnessing the first sample clocking of the race. We all have so much fun watching the birds arriving in groups or individually.
Some adjustments outside the loft, as well as the trap doors will be made. It was also the first time for the birds to be locked in the trap doors. Hopefully, the birds will feel more comfortable seeing people around in the succeeding races.
Huge turn-out of participants are expected on March 6, 2010. Thus, the Organizer and the BODs are now preparing for the big event. New set of rules for 2011 races will also be published soon!

PICTURES TAKING.....!!!!!!!!!
On January 9, 2010 (SAT), I went to MT-SEA Oneloft to assist Joseph Yap in the picture taking of all the birds remaining in the loft. There are 190 in total. We started at 4:30pm and finished at 9:30pm. Aside from the initial short tosses, all the birds (except for the injured or sicked) have started their road trainings. TYPHOON SANTI
It is sad to see that there were more than a hundred Saba banana trees damaged by the typhoon in the early morning of Oct. 31, 2009 in the surrounding areas. However, except for a very slight damaged on the rear portion of the Mount Sea Oneloft, everything is okay. The last count is 242 as of Nov. 02 during my loft visit.
Congratulations once again to the Organizer for the nice construction. The road training of the birds will commence very soon. Some new plants were added in the vicinity of the loft. Watch out for the final race sometime in March next year.
